RAGBRAI 2009   Okay, I loaded a picture.  Hope you can find it.   Will someone fix this and make it look pretty?  I think I am wiki-challenged.  Jennifer

Home of the Thundering Texans (more of a motley crew than an actual team)

The Thundering Texans are a group of bicyclists who love to ride. Most of our members are based in the Houston area but we have a couple of stragglers from Austin and Denver. Our first organized ride together was RAGBRAI 2008 and our next one is the Austin area Livestrong Challenge in October.

We are currently seeking sponsorship for team jerseys and more riders to justify buying (and decorating) a team bus! And team stickers so we can decorate the roadkill.

2009 RAGBRAI

This year's RAGBRAI is July 19-25. Registration for the lottery is now open and the deadline is April 1st. Jennifer and Marcia and Kent are going. Anyone else?

2009 MS150 - Houston to Austin

The next big ride for the team is the big 2 day ride from Houston to Austin to help fight MS. We ride with Team Rocket the team out of BBS Technologies/Idera which is the team Marcus and Winky work for.  The ride is in April and you can send donations to any of us to help raise money to fight MS (and reach our minimum pledge levels). Known team riders: Marcus, Bob, Winky and Jennifer.

Livestrong Challenge 2008 (Austin) - October 26th

It was a beautiful day and we had a great ride. Marcus, Winky, and Kent did the 65 mile route with Jennifer taking a wrong turn and only doing the 45 mile route and then complaining she had so much energy at the end that she wished she had turned left instead of right at the key moment. We had a lot of good food and drink in Austin and it was fun for all!  Kent was very fashionable in his handmade Thundering Texans bike jersey and we were all jeaous. Oh yeah, we also all made it up Bob's hill (it is still his lifelong dream to someday make it up a certain really steep hill at the 43 mile mark of the ride.

I have juried in to a fine arts festival in Galveston on the same weekend of the LiveSTRONG ride. I am not going to be able to do the ride this year.

Hey Thundering Texans, what are your plans for Livestrong? I wanted to volunteer on Saturday but they don't need me (sadly; it was a great experience last year). Would be fun to catch up with you before the ride. Also, I heard that the Hou-Aus MS-150 opened today. Last year it filled in 11 days. Are you guys part of any team that might include an Austin member? I was team Wells Fargo last time I did it but am told that they're out of the game right now. My riding has been less than optimal; it's been a crazy busy fall. But I hope to do the Outlaw 100 this weekend and get some miles in before the hills of Livestrong. Jennifer

Unfortunately, Lala, I will not be at the Austin ride. I took a new job and will be in Germany that weekend.

You get me instead. It's optimistic to think there are plans yet, though.

I'll be riding the 62 mile segment. Oh and I put a new saddle on so maybe I won't be so sore.

Marcia will be in Gruene for at the Texas Clay Festival instead of in Galveston. Galveston is in no condition to host any art events right now!
